The Sandakphu and Phalut trek can be done within 7 days from NJP/IXB/Siliguri to NJP/ IXB/ Siliguri. That doesn’t mean you will be singing and dancing along the whole way. There will be stiff climbings, long-distance walking, below zero temperature, strong winds etc. It surely requires fitness to complete this trek as you will be carrying a weight on your back and climbing for almost 80k.m where climate change, altitude sickness can also be a challenge. While going on this trek you will come across Singalila national park which is a reserved forest covering an area of 78.6 square km. Most part of the trek comes under this forest. There are multiple trek routes are available from which one can choose as per your convenience.

  1. Day 1 Drive from NJP/ IXB/ Siliguri – Manebhanjan /Chitrey

    Upon arrival in New Jalpaiguri/Siliguri in the morning, take an uphill car-ride to Manebhanjan, the origin of this amazing Sandakphu trekking experience followed by an overnight stay.

  2. Day 2 Trek from Manebhanjan to Tumling

    Waking up early in the morning, get done with your breakfast, and start trekking towards Tumling, one of the spectacular peaks in the Singalila Range. In Tumling, with your arrival at a trekker’s hut, unwind yourself and retire for the day.

  3. Day 3 Trek from Tumling to Kalipokhri

    Today morning, prepare to trek to Kalipokhri nny covering a distance of around 9km within 5 hours. While walking past the Singalila National Park, explore and discover the enchanting beauty of the vicinity and make it to a trekker’s hut in Kalipokhri for an overnight stay.

  4. Day 4 Trek from Kalipokhri to Sandakphu

    Waking up in the morning, prepare for the most amazing experience of this trek as you will be trekking in Sandakphu, the highest point in West Bengal. Enjoy the panoramic views of the Mt Khanchendzonga and Everest, the scenic forests underneath and be a witness of the amazing sunset views in the evening; overnight stay will be in a trekker’s hut.

  5. Day 5 Trek from Sandakphu to Phalut

    The day starts with a long 21kms. trek from Sandakphu to Phalut. The trail is along a ridge and can be considered as one of the most enjoyable and scenic walks in the Singalila Trek. The whole range of snowy peaks is always in view and the trail passes through high altitude vegetation and areas of dwarf rhododendrons and firs. Overnight stay at Phalut in trekkers’ hut / tent.

  6. Day 6 Trek from Phalut to Gorkhey

    Early morning walk up to Phalut Top to view the sunrise over the Himalayan range. Then The day starts with a descending trek from Phalut to Gorkhey, which takes about 05 hrs. This trek route passes through the forest provides ample opportunities for bird watching. Overnight at Gorkhey in a lodge.

  7. Day 7 Trek from Gorkhey to Srikhola

    The day starts with a uphill 2kms. Trek to Samanden. Then descending trek to Srikhola. Overnight stay there in a riverside lodge.

  8. Day 8 Return journey to NJP/ IXB/ Siliguri

    After breakfast trek to Voreng (a 4 kms. Uphill trek, 2hrs.) then drive to NJP/ IXB/ Siliguri, this Sandakphu trek will come to an end.
