The Fat man’s daughter is a relatively challenging trail that offers spectacular views from the top of the highest mountain in Coorg.
Our vehicles will deposit us at the trailhead, which is literally at the end of the (barely) motorable road. We will plunge immediately into the jungle and follow the fat man’s daughter trail as it makes its way through the lush undergrowth. The gradient is easy at the beginning, which is perfect for stretching the muscles in advance of the more strenuous exertions ahead.
After about a couple of km, the trail opens out into shola and grassland, offering magnificient views across the Coorg countryside. These views have earned Coorg the moniker of 'Scotland of India" - and some of our British guests have admitted that the two do appear to be closely related.
The peak summits at about 1700m (~5500ft) and we will spend a little time here, catching our breath and enjoying the views. Depending on the time, we can have lunch or some snacks here before heading back the way we came.
