Mahadev peak is a mountain peak in the surrounding area of Dachigam National Park in district Srinagar of Jammu and Kashmir.  Named after Lord Shiva and visible from almost all parts of Srinagar, it is the highest mountain peak in the district with the elevation of 3,966 m (13,012 ft). Mahadev peak gives an all encompassing perspective of overall city with the mountains of Zabarwan range touching from all sides. The simplest and easiest route begins from Faqeer Gujri, Dara which is located around 25 kilometres away from city centre Lal Chowk. The total trek distance is approximately 20 km. The route to Mahadev offers splendid view of the scenic beauty which are highly worthy of being photographed and worth cherishing. One can witness the magnificent view comprising of snow capped mountain peaks, waterfalls with crystal clear water. We mostly trek on snow-covered terrain with snowshoes clipped on to our shoes. We trek high and camp high, exclusive trekking tents will be set up by the team on snow and our wild nights will be spent in tents under the stary sky. We will establish our basecamp on day 02 of the trekking in Lidwas valley in Gujjar/Nomadic huts. This unique feature adds wild experience to our adventure. We will hike up to Mahadev bowl and try to summit Mt. Mahadev (3966m) as conditions allow. Also, the famous high altitude Tarsar and Marsar lakes lie on the eastern side of this mountain.

  1. Day 1 Arrival Srinagar International Airport- Srinagar Nigeen Lake (18.3km, 54min)

    • On arrival meet our representative and direct transfer to Nigeen Lake.
    • Check-in at houseboat, welcome refreshments.
    • Meet and greet with your fellow team and briefing for the Trek.
    • Take a leisure walk to the silvery white Hazratbal Mosque-Shrine which is situated on the left bank of the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar. It is revered for housing a relic, the Prophet’s hair. Situated near the Dal Lake, the only domed mosque in Srinagar is a place of serenity, a must visit.
    • The Hazratbal Mosque lends a historic and divine appeal to Srinagar. As you walk down the corridors of this famous religious sanctum, you marvel at the intricate Persian and Iranian architectural influences. So this would be something like a heritage walk!
    • Retrace back your steps to Nigeen Lake via hustle & bustle of Dargah Market.
    • Overnight Stay at Houseboat in Nigeen Lake.

  2. Day 2 Srinagar- Scholars School Dara (15km, 35min) – Lidwas Valley (6-8hrs trek approx.)

    • After breakfast we pack for the mountains and leave as early as possible.
    • Taxi transfer to Scholars School Dara, as this is from where our Mountain trail starts towards the adventure.
    • We trek, we hike, we cross ice-cold streams and footbridges made of logs by Nomads, and wild mountain gullies to reach our basecamp Lidwas Valley for the adventure ahead.
    • Set up- basecamp in mysteriously beautifully Lidwas Valley and call it a day.
    • Short briefing session.
    • Overnight stay at Lidwas Valley in Gujjar Dhoka in exclusive tents.

  3. Day 3 Lidwas Valley- Mahadev Bowl- Mahadev Peak -Lidwas Valley (6-7hrs trek approx.)

    • As this is the ultimate day of our Mahadev adventure, we leave the basecamp early after having energetic breakfast.
    • We put on our snowshoes and thus our Mahadev conquering begins.
    • We hike up and up until we reach the vast snow-covered Mahadev bowl. We analyze the snow conditions and decide if the Peak can be summitted. (Peak summit decision only to be taken by Trek leader)
    • Descend back to Lidwas Valley to our basecamp and call it a adventurous day.
    • Overnight stay at Lidwas base camp.

  4. Day 4 Lidwas Valley – Scholars School Dara (6-7hrs trek approx.)- Srinagar Hotel (15km, 35min)

    • Today after breakfast we pack our stuff and prepare for the hike down.
    • As this is our last day of the snow adventure, we enjoy it to our fullest.
    • Descend back to our starting point via Dubjan and retrace back the trekking route we had taken earlier.
    • Meet our Taxi service at Scholar school Dara and direct transfer to hotel in Srinagar.
    • Check-in at hotel.
    • Evening at leisure.
    • Overnight stay at hotel.

  5. Day 5 Srinagar Local Sightseeing

    • After breakfast, we visit world famous Mughal Gardens- Nishat Garden, Shalimar Garden
    • Explore and experience Dal Lake, Shikara ride for 01hrs (Complimentary).
    • Visit Shankaracharya Temple also known as the Jyeshteshwara Temple. It is situated on top of the Takht-e-Sulaiman Hill on the Zabarwan Range in Srinagar. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is at a height of 1,000 feet above the valley floor and overlooks the city of Srinagar.
    • Visit city centre Lal Chowk for shopping (optional)
    • Transfer to Hotel/Houseboat.
    • Overnight stay at hotel/houseboat in Srinagar.

  6. Day 6 SRINAGAR- SRINAGAR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT |DEPARTURE DAY|

    • After your breakfast, we will assist you with transfers to airport to fly back to your home with memories and thus your travel experience with Highland Excursions concludes and you connect to onwards destination with memories.
