Mahadev peak is a mountain peak in the surrounding area of Dachigam National Park in district Srinagar of Jammu and Kashmir. Named after Lord Shiva and visible from almost all parts of Srinagar, it is the highest mountain peak in the district with the elevation of 3,966 m (13,012 ft). Mahadev peak gives an all encompassing perspective of overall city with the mountains of Zabarwan range touching from all sides. The simplest and easiest route begins from Faqeer Gujri, Dara which is located around 25 kilometres away from city centre Lal Chowk.
The total trek distance is approximately 20 km. The route to Mahadev offers splendid view of the scenic beauty which are highly worthy of being photographed and worth cherishing. One can witness the magnificent view comprising of snow capped mountain peaks, waterfalls with crystal clear water. We mostly trek on snow-covered terrain with snowshoes clipped on to our shoes. We trek high and camp high, exclusive trekking tents will be set up by the team on snow and our wild nights will be spent in tents under the stary sky. We will establish our basecamp on day 02 of the trekking in Lidwas valley in Gujjar/Nomadic huts. This unique feature adds wild experience to our adventure. We will hike up to Mahadev bowl and try to summit Mt. Mahadev (3966m) as conditions allow. Also, the famous high altitude Tarsar and Marsar lakes lie on the eastern side of this mountain.
