Major climbing areas in India
Dhauj (Haryana)--55 km from Connaught Place and 10 km past Badhkal lake on the Sohna-Ballabgarh road. The rocks stretch out to the left and the right of the lake. Excellent climbing. Offers 250 routes of various grades of difficulty, good beginners' routes.
Camping: Camp near the lake.
Season: October to March.
Dam Dama (Haryana)--65 km away from Delhi on the Delhi-Alwar highway.
Camping: Either camp near the lake or book a place in the nearby Haryana Tourism complex.
Lado Sarai Rocks (Delhi)--Situated between Qutab Minar and Saket, in a park. They are 10-m high and offer interesting routes for both beginners and experts.
Mt Abu (Rajasthan)--The training area of the State Mountaineering Institute near the Brahma Kumaris ashram has some good training climbs.
Pavagadh (Gujarat)--Located 40 km from Vadodara on the Halul and Kalul road. The rocks are located on the top of the plateau.
Camping: Accommodation is available on the top of the plateau.
